About the cause

  • Lakeside is an outsize development project that raises significant pollution concerns, undermines the County's rural character, and was approved under questionable circumstances in 2020. It is a billion-dollar development of 2,500 homes and several commercial spaces in Trappe — a town that today consists of only 400 homes and 1 stop light.

  • As of today, only 120 homes are underway at Lakeside. Because of a May 9th directive from the Maryland Department of Environment, the Trappe sewer service map must be corrected — which means Talbot County has an opportunity to FIX this situation.

The details are technical, but action by the County Council can assure that, beyond the 120 homes underway (which cannot be undone), all future phases of Lakeside must come before the Public Hearing and the Planning Commission for consideration anew.

  • The "FIX LAKESIDE INITIATIVE” urges the County Council to do the right thing and simply adopt the proper sewer service map for our community.
